The World Before Later On

Just a quick note before logging out for the last time here at Hótel Reynihlíð. I have had a fine summer inspite of the weather being unfavorable a lot of the time.
For the next couple of weeks I will be in and out of an airplane 5 times so time of travelling is upon me. So if there is anyone who wants to join me on the whole trip or part...now is the time to speak! ;) Take care for now and NOW I'M GONNA HAVE A BEER!!!

Snowball in Hell

Devastating Hurricanes in the USA, winter in Iceland in the middle of september. What is the world coming too!!!?? Now we have almost 10 centimeters of snow in Mývatn and -2 degrees celcius. The same time last year it was sunny and +16 degrees. Some ppl. say that this is caused by global warming but I choose to call it GLOBAL WARNING! There you have it: A new term. Remember you saw it first on my page;). It kind of means: "Face it world, we are going to hell in a handbasket".
Anyways, to less morbit things: After work I'm planning a little snowball fight with the rest of the staff to celabrate that I only have 4 working days left! jiiihaaa! "Same time" next month I will be relaxing in Costa Rica with a margarita (almost rhimes) getting ready to visit Fidel in Cuba...(incidentally, me and Castro share the same birthday,Well how about that!). Well, I´m gonna see if I can´t get the drunk norwegians to go to bed so I can blow this joint...metaphorically speaking of course.
Hasta la Rita.

Mývatn Open

I was in a golf tournament last saturday. I came in as number 15 of 32 players, not bad considering they lovered my handicap from 30 to 24!!! So having a 30 handicap did not help me at all!....fore those who think that now I might just as well be talking swahili here are some nice pictures I took just before the tournament started.

No One Knows My Plan

Back on the news desk here in Mywater where absolutely nothing is going on! (a contradiction in terms if I ever wrote one). So, actually I´m just back at the desk with time snailing on. However, I did realise today that I´m going to Denmark in a month and then to South America. So I have been surfing the net looking at possible places to see and things to do. There will, very possibly, be a slight change of travel plans but as it is not official yet I´ll keep you in the dark for another couple of days more. I will give you a hint though (for you clever ppl out there this is a dead give away, but what the heck):

When It Rains It Snows

Last weekend I took it upon myself to travel "all the way" to Akureyri. It turned out to be a good thing. I staid for two night at a friends place (thanks Tóta & Palli) in Akureyri and on saturday night we had a very nice dinner (lobster as a starter and rudolf the reindeer as the main course). As the lobster was brought to the table I decided to have a piece of toast on the side; but then disaster struck! I broke a tooth! (on a piece of toast...think about that!) I excused myself from the table to assess the damage. The tooth had split almost in the middle but since I was not in any pain at that moment I decided not to say anything to my hosts so as not to spoil the dinner (which was, by the way, the best meal I have had in a long time). Now you are probably wondering what was the good thing about all this. Well, as I was in Akureyri (as opposed to Mývatnssveit) it was easier to get to a dentist which I did early monday morning. After three hours in the chair and som kind of a bloddy miracle the dentist managed removed the piece that had broke of and somehow made another piece in its' place, and she did this relatively without pain. RESPECT I say, respect! I took a couple of days of work which I survived mostly on mouthwash and painkillers but now I´m back to Mywater and it´s buisiness as usual.

Friday night was also "interesting". I got a call from two Erna & Silvia, who work at the hotel, and they asked if I wanted to join them at Kaffi Akureyri. As I am not the type to refuse and offer from two beautiful spanish girls (now I will surely get a comment;) I got a lift to town and joined them. Half an hour later we went to Sjallinn to dance. After little over an hour on the dance floor I had a very sobering experience. I realized that I was probably 20 years older than EVERYBODY in there. I getting flash backs from my highschool years! I would have had to drink alot to get drunk again so I opted for the less expensive option and left.

Well enough for you to chew on for now (no pun intended).
hasta la dentista

p.s. When it snows in August there is something seriously wrong!
