Carnival in Rio de Janeiro

Finally here is the last part of my travel story, sorry folks it took awhile but here it is with some crazy carnival photos that border on illegal ;)
It was cool to experience the carnival mood in Rio even though I did not go to the traditional sambodrome (see Rio sightseeing). At this time it was very expensive to get tickets. It was possible still to get tickets but only in lousy parts of the sambodrome. Instead we went to Ipanema beach for two nights and experienced how the locals celebrated. The last night, Marcella took me to a crazy carnival costume party. However, it is beyond me how people, can stand on top of a truck drive through a group of tens of thousands of people and play and sing more or less the same song for hours on end. The mood though is unbelievable. We also went to a place where the the drummers were rehearsing for the sambodrome. About 30 drummers in one band drumming away at the same time and it actually sounded good!!
